CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VINEYARDS:

Hillside vineyard facing south (280 meters above sea level) in the Chianti Classico territory.

WINE-MAKING PROCESS:

Traditional, with fermentation in stainless steel vats at a strictly controlled temperature (max 28/30° C), ending with a lengthy maceration on the skins (18/20 days).

AGEING:

16/18 months in small French oak barrels, 6 months in bottles.

ALCOHOL CONTENT:

14% vol.

RECOMMENDED PAIRINGS:

Grilled red meat, ground and big game, and medium and long seasoned cheese

SERVING TEMPERATURE:

16°-18°C.

Description

Tramonto d’Oca is the maximum expression of the quality of Poggio Bonelli wines. The careful selection of the grapes and the constant, scrupulous attention paid in the cellar are fully rewarded with this unique and fascinating product. It is a characteristic ruby red colour with garnet highlights due to ageing.

The complex scents anticipate the taste, which is progressive and greatly persistent. It opens in a pallet of sensations that range from red fruit jams to spices (pepper and cinnamon), and finishes with hints of tobacco and cocoa.
